As the backbone of the Bangladeshi economy, agriculture employs nearly half the workforce and generates 16% of the nation’s GDP. Recognizing the importance of this sector, the government has embarked on a digital transformation journey.
Over a decade ago, Bangladesh launched the “Digital Bangladesh” initiative, aimed at leveraging technology to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability across several sectors, including agriculture. This, coupled with private sector innovations, has accelerated the digitization of the agricultural and food value chains.
DevMaker Consulting is partnering with DAI and Feed the Future Bangladesh on the “Developing Digital Literacy Capacity Building Resources for Agricultural Value Chain Actors in Bangladesh” assignment. This project aims to:
Understand the digital skills currently held by agricultural stakeholders and identify any gaps.
Create a roadmap for building digital literacy within the sector.
Equip trainers with the tools and resources to effectively upskill agricultural value chain participants.
Tackle the obstacles hindering digital adoption in agriculture, including assessing digital characteristics, understanding the impact on workforce capabilities, and analyzing existing training providers and learning pathways.
By equipping agricultural workers with vital digital skills, this project will:
Empower farmers and other stakeholders to adopt digital tools, leading to increased yield and efficiency.
Connect farmers to markets and financial services, enabling them to better compete and earn higher incomes.
Contribute to building a more resilient and sustainable food system for Bangladesh.
This initiative represents a crucial step in bridging the digital divide within Bangladesh’s agricultural sector. By investing in digital literacy, we can unlock the potential of this vital industry and create a brighter future for all.
Let’s work together to create impact.
