This sub-project, jointly financed by Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and the World Bank (WB) under the Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP), is being implemented by Programmes for Community Development (PCD) in Khoksha Upazila of Kushtia district and Pangsha Upazila of Rajbari district, particularly in char areas.
The goal of this initiative is to promote environment-friendly sugarcane farming, ensure hygienic processing of sugarcane products, and establish modern jaggery (গুড়) manufacturing units. By introducing sustainable farming techniques and eco-friendly production methods, the project aims to reduce environmental pollution while enhancing the livelihoods of micro-entrepreneurs.
🚀 Key interventions of the project include:
✔️ Promotion of organic and eco-friendly sugarcane farming
✔️ Establishment of hygienic jaggery processing units
✔️ Capacity building of micro-entrepreneurs through training and technical support
✔️ Development of sustainable market linkages for sugarcane products
A comprehensive end-line study was conducted across various villages of Khoksha and Pangsha Upazilas, involving 199 respondents, through focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and statistical data analysis. The findings highlight significant improvements in business growth, sustainability, and environmental impact among the participating micro-entrepreneurs.
This project is a step towards sustainable agriculture, food safety, and economic empowerment, ensuring a better future for the charland communities.

✅ টেকসই বাজার সংযোগ তৈরি করা
প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি উদ্যোক্তারা পরিবেশবান্ধব উৎপাদন পদ্ধতিতে দক্ষ হয়ে উঠছেন এবং তাদের আখ চাষ ও গুড় উৎপাদন আরো লাভজনক হচ্ছে।
একটি সম্পূর্ণ মূল্যায়ন জরিপ পরিচালিত হয় খোকসা ও পাংশার বিভিন্ন গ্রামে, যেখানে ১৯৯ জন উত্তরদাতা অংশ নেন। ফোকাস গ্রুপ আলোচনা, মূল তথ্য প্রদানকারীদের সাক্ষাৎকার এবং পরিসংখ্যান বিশ্লেষণের মাধ্যমে প্রকল্পের প্রভাব মূল্যায়ন করা হয়েছে। গবেষণার ফলাফল দেখায় যে প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে ব্যবসায়িক বৃদ্ধি, স্থায়িত্ব এবং পরিবেশগত উন্নয়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পরিবর্তন এসেছে।
এই প্রকল্প টেকসই কৃষি, খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা ও অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নের এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ, যা চরাঞ্চলের মানুষের জন্য একটি সম্ভাবনাময় ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ে তুলছে।
